As a first-time dog owner, I quickly realized that I was the one who needed training, more so than the 70-pound dog I had just adopted. However, every trainer I interviewed gave me such a psycho-babble spiel as to their “behavioral training” philosophy I could barely keep a straight face. Then I met Jen Vickery and instantly realized she was the real deal. Seven years and two dogs later, training at The Pawsitive Dog has turned out to be one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences of my life. Jenifer expects the absolute best from her human and canine students, her staff, and above all, herself. The support and loyalty of the Pawsitive Dog community is a direct result of the support and loyalty that Jen provides them. Training at The Pawsitive Dog is not for the faint of heart – it is tough love at its finest. The multidimensional curriculum is rigorous and challenging for owners and dogs; encompassing behavior, obedience, nutrition and health. The breadth and depth of the knowledge of the The Pawsitive Dog trainers is an accumulation of not just a few years, but DECADES, of professional education and training. All trainers have competed and titled in a variety of local, regional and national canine competitions. All are Red Cross certified in Pet CPR and First Aide. Their experience and expertise are unparalleled in this city. If you are looking for someone who will simply teach your dog to sit, lay down, do tricks, and when they are not sure of the answer, “will leave it up to the owner to decide” you are in luck – there is much to choose from. However, if you are dedicated to forming a life-long partnership with your dog, if you are dedicated to becoming a skilled, confident dog owner/handler, if you are dedicated to providing your dog with the best life possible, look no further than The Pawsitive Dog.
Vote: Dog Training
This is not the typical doggie day care, where groups of dogs run around aimlessly, barking themselves hoarse, supervised by staff whose only experience is they have loved dogs all their lives. Walk into The Pawsitive Dog and you will observe calm, quiet dogs in crates, on dog beds, in exercise pens, walking on the treadmill. Throughout the course of the day, Pawsitive Dog trainers work individually with each dog, focusing on its specific training needs. Dogs are grouped together for supervised play to help them develop appropriate social skills. My dogs receive a full day of mental and physical exercise and learn that even when Mom’s not around, good manners are still expected.

Camp Pawsitive Dog is a unique continuation of Pawsitive Dog training. A weekend at the farm getting to know the various farm animals, swimming in the pond, hiking over hill and dale, maybe even a horse show, all under the constant supervision of Pawsitive Dog trainers. As an added measure of safety, all Pawsitive Dog trainers are Red Cross certified in Pet CPR and First Aid. My dogs are everything to me and I would not even consider leaving them anywhere other than Pawsitive Dog.
