Voting Home / Mr. Bartley's Burger Cottage
Nominated for: BEST Burger
Mr. Bartley's Burger Cottage is a Harvard Square institution. With over 20 unique burger combinations on their menu from the Bill Clinton Burger with BBQ sauce and cheese to the Al Franken veggie burger with salsa and pineapple, there's something for everyone on the menu.
All others give up and go get lunch at Bartley's! How many of these other joints are hosted by the person who's name is on the sign out front? Since 1960. You all know I'm right. Great political / americana memorabilia on the walls too. Go. Have a frappe as well if you know what that is.

So many wacky burger flavors. I love it! The Skip Gates is my favorite at the moment - teriyaki burger w/ pineapple and onion rings. Mmmm

If at all possible, come mid-afternoon to avoid the crazy lines. However, even if you do have to wait in line (and sit at communal tables, packed like sardines), you will be glad you came. Try to spot Mr. Bartley himself, often present on the premises. Delicious burgers.

Don't be freaked out by the huge menu and risky sounding combos, step outside your comfort zone and try something new! I don't like bbq sauce but the burger with it was one of the best burgers I've ever had.

A beloved Harvard Square institution for a good reason. Lines can be long, but the burgers are worth the wait.

Kitschy, cool "named" burgers and a no-nonsense attitude. Place is always packed. And be ready with cash to pay.

Decor isn't much, but the food is the star. If you can think of it, you can eat it here. They put together all sorts of fascinating concoctions that just seem to work!
