Nominated for: BEST Bowling
Lanes and Games is one of the largest Boston area bowling alleys with 34 candlepin and 20 ten pin lanes. It is located just past the Alewife T station on Route 2. It is short walk from Alewife, but for most people it is easiest to drive. The lanes are open daily 9AM-Midnight including weekends. Lanes and Games has a full restaurant, bar, and arcade. The lanes can get busy especially on rainy weekends, so be sure to call ahead and avoid league conflicts. Lanes still use original computerized scoring and that makes for some funny dancing atari-looking bowlers.
Ever since they tore the soul out of Sacco's to make it that weird temple to young hipster parents, Lanes and Games is pretty much the only great alley left

It takes a bit to get there, but they maintain their lanes better than anywhere

When they gutted the character out of Sacco's and turned it into some freakish hipster wasteland, Lanes and Games became the last of the real alleys. It hasn't seen renovation since the 70s, high-schoolers still drink in the parking lot , and it smells like a bowling alley should: that curious mix of feet, beer, and broken dreams. Stay strong guys.

I love the bowling mural on the walls made out of 70's erar shag carpeting. And they get bonus points for having a bubble hockey machine in the arcade area.
