…For nearly a quarter of a century Cafe Barada has been serving and creating freshly prepared Lebanese dishes for all to enjoy.
The Salameh family first opened Cafe Barada in a small location in the town of Arlington. The name Cafe Barada is derived from Haouch-Barada, a small village where our family is from in Lebanon.
Our opening day in 1985 would not have been made possible without the help of Afifi Salameh,
our mother and grandmother.
My family, friends and I have been going to this wonderful restaurant since it was a "hole-in-the-wall" --a tiny establishment on Mass. Ave. in Arlington. Later, it moved to larger quarters down the block, where it stayed for a few years. Fortunately, the current location in North Cambridge is still convenient to us. We are grateful for this "comfort food," which is both tasty and prepared with great care. Some of my family's favorites are the hummus, mujedarra, shish-ka-babs, and any dish with vegetables and tomato sauce. Everyone in the Salameh family is very hardworking, kind and welcoming.
